Financing the Future Programming (where will $ come from)
With more money going to fewer productions, what are the implications for the industry as a whole? While the growth of unscripted programming was spurred on, in part, by challenging negotiations with the creative community, there is no denying that the cost efficiencies that the format offers also contributed to its explosive growth. At the same time, we are seeing efficiencies in production practices, technologies and business models which allow for higher production values for less money. What are investors expectations - especially as it relates to online and mobile distribution? Will they achieve sufficient returns on their investment to justify a long-term commitment to the medium? Or is it, currently, a strategic play?

Learning from History: Traditional Syndication
With all the focus on digital distribution channels and unproven yet innovative models, it is often beneficial for us to look back in history to learn what works and what doesn't. How "different" is digital distribution from traditional syndication? Are there opportunities to maximise use of staff and processes between the two worlds?

Widgets as a Promotion and Syndication Platform Panel
The ability to share is key to gaining viral traction online. Widgets, portable applications that people can share across social networks and even add to their desktops, have evolved. Social Marketing Applications, which include, but are not limited to, widgets, mashups, Facebook and MySpace applications, are being used by brands--in some cases in lieu of traditional online advertising--to advertise, launch new products, syndicate video content, and more. Social marketing applications allow content owners to “spread the word” quickly and cheaply, turn users into brand ambassadors, and track ROI easily.

Track C - Social Video
A number of innovative companies have launched applications or solutions that can have direct impact on the development of creative programming. Beyond providing programming in a mobile location, this is a “new” breed of broadcast that, rather than treating the consumer as a passive player, invites and integrates the audience member as part of the programming experience. The result - richer and more compelling programming in addition to incremental supporting revenues.
