Tom Meyer was named President of Davie Brown Entertainment (DBE) in 2004. A full service entertainment marketing consultancy, DBE helps top global brands engage consumers by utilizing the powerful platforms of film, television, music and gaming. DBE specializes in strategic marketing, product placement and integration, branded entertainment, promotions, and celebrity/buzz marketing, and since 1985 has been at the forefront of the growing entertainment marketing business.
A key player in a rapidly changing industry, Mr. Meyer has created and implemented significant branded entertainment opportunities and entertainment marketing campaigns for dozens of multi-million dollar companies. Mr. Meyer architected the hugely successful integration of MINI Cooper into The Italian Job – a film in which MINI had a starring role, and an example often cited throughout the industry as a best-in-class case study for product integration. He recently engineered significant brand tie-ins with highly-anticipated 2006 summer movies, integrating State Farm and AT&T with Disney Pixar’s Cars and the PepsiCo family of brands with Superman Returns. Recently, with Mr. Meyer at the helm, DBE successfully implemented groundbreaking scripted integrations for Cisco in “24,” as well as produced First Descent, DBE’s first high-profile branded content feature documentary with Mountain Dew.
As president, Mr. Meyer is responsible for the overall strategic vision of DBE, as the company leads the charge in defining new relationships between consumers and the advertising and marketing world. He has recognized that the industry is changing and traditional advertising isn’t working; rather, emotional platforms are the key to engaging consumers. Under his guidance, DBE has developed new competencies that have allowed the company to stay ahead of the curve as the marketplace evolves. He oversees a team of professionals who create innovative entertainment-marketing programs in film, television, video gaming for the company’s roster of high-profile clients, including Pepsi, AT&T, Hewlett-Packard, Cisco Systems, State Farm and PlayStation, among others.
Mr. Meyer joined DBE in 1999, rising to the post of president at the end of 2004. Prior to joining DBE, Mr. Meyer spent seven years at Paramount Pictures’ worldwide marketing partnerships group, where he was responsible for securing, coordinating and managing major corporate tie-ins. During his stint, he developed the groundbreaking Rugrats/Mercury Villager campaign, which featured the first-ever automotive animated commercial. Mr. Meyer began his career in TV news.
Raised in New Orleans and Denver, Mr. Meyer received his Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications from Colorado State University in 1987 and went on to earn his MBA with a concentration in Marketing from his alma mater in 1992. He currently resides in West Los Angeles.
