Michael spent the last 8 years as an agent and executive at ICM, where he was Co-Head of New Media Dept., and headed up the company's digital and new media assets, including working with ICM's London and New York offices. In addition to developing content for the new media platforms, he has been a leader in Internet deal making, including assisting ICM writers, directors, actors and producers with the creation of web projects to advance their film concepts.
Prior to ICM, Michael practiced entertainment law at Lavely & Singer and Behr Abramson & Kaller. Michael was first exposed to entertainment at The University of California, Hastings College of Law, where he served as the Executive Associate Editor of "The Hastings Entertainment Law Review," where is his now an Adjunct Professor of Law teaching Entertainment and New Media. His company NuMedia Management represents several of the Emmy level creators of new media content, including Hoodlum (2008 Emmy Nomination, “Lost – Find 815”) and Xenophile Media (2007 Emmy Winner, “Fallen”). Michael currently has numerous new media deals set-up in which NuMedia is producing video content or creating web experiences.
Michael’s most recent deal “Hecklers” starring Tom Arnold and Owen Benjamin is a multiplatform series with CBS that sets up a model for independent filmmakers. “Hecklers” will air both on the web and on CBS as television interstitial programming during 2009 March Madness. It is a model for independent filmmakers because NuMedia retained the feature film rights, and is producing the web series as a prequel to the independent feature film.
